AYAM Brand Sardines in Black Bean Sauce combines tender fried sardines with a rich, savoury sauce made from fermented black beans, soy sauce and fragrant fried garlic.
Inspired by traditional Chinese home cooking, this variety has a distinctive salty, savoury flavour that pairs beautifully with hot steamed rice or plain congee (rice porridge).
For a quick meal, simply warm the sardines and serve with rice, steamed vegetables or noodles. They’re also delicious with fried tofu, mushrooms or as a topping for homemade claypot rice.
Unlike ordinary sardines in tomato sauce, this variety uses salted fermented black beans, known as tau si (豆豉), for a deeper, more savoury flavour.
