BABA’S Rendang Mix is a fragrant blend of spices and herbs for preparing traditional Malaysian rendang. With the aromatic flavours of chilli, coriander, turmeric and other spices, it helps bring the familiar taste of homemade rendang to your kitchen.
Perfect for making Rendang Daging (Beef Rendang), Rendang Ayam (Chicken Rendang) or even a vegetarian rendang using mushrooms or potatoes.
For a traditional Malaysian rendang, cook the spice mix with coconut milk, lemongrass and your choice of meat. Simmer slowly until the sauce thickens and coats the meat with a rich, fragrant gravy. Add toasted coconut paste (kerisik) for extra depth and a more traditional flavour.
Unlike ordinary curry, rendang is usually cooked down until the sauce becomes thick and concentrated, giving it its distinctive rich flavour.
